Our yarn

We would appreciate if you could share what other colours you are looking for, so that we can add this to our collection!

As piles of all similar kinds of clothing and materials are recycled into 1 colour, it can happen that you see a slightly more melange colour than with a solid dyed yarn. Please have a look at the close-up pictures and you will see what we mean. We feel that the colours look more alive, cozy and rich as a result.

Production

Good question. First of all, landfill of textile waste from Europe is even being shipped back to other countries as for example India. Isn't it a strange world that we produce so much oversees, ship it and when it is disregarded we ship it back? The landfill in India remains a challenge and we are happy to help re-use this with our recycled wool and cotton blends.

It would be great if we at one point can add local recycled knitting yarn as a category in the near future, we are working on it!

It is important to us that we source certified yarns with right focus on environmental, social and chemical practices. The yarns are GRS certified. The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.

The GRS is intended to verify the recycled content of products (both finished and intermediate) and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimised*

Recycling process

Landfill of used clothes comes into to factory where it is sorted by colour, shredded and spun into new yarns.

The textiles come in the end from all over the globe and ends as landfill in India where it is re-used.

For some sorts, like the 100% recycled denim cotton a small portion of recycled pet is added to maintain a strong enough yarn. By doing this an 80% recycled cotton content can be reached, which is an incredibly high percentage of recycled cotton within yarn.

The waste of textile scraps is sorted by colour and then spun into yarn. The colour from the yarns is a result of the colour of the input. This saves us another round of chemical dyeing!

Returns

Well, this is a topic we have thought about for a long time. Yes, we want to show our customers the beauty of working with recycled yarn and add positively to the whole system. And yes, we want to help out, so you can return an order by reaching out to us personally.

From a sustainable point of view we wish that most people buy something intentionally and be happy forever, so that logistical costs and therefore emission would be limited. However, we are also part of the same system by sending the knitting yarn to you and understand that sometimes things work out differently.

Personal contact gives us more knowledge why you wish to return the items, so that we might be able to help you better. We do not want to push for sales, we want our customers to love our products and be convinced by what we have to offer and why.
